From organic farms to retail-ready packaging

LIMBUA produces organic macadamia nuts and dried organic mangoes at its own production facilities in Kenya. We source the harvests directly from contract smallholder farmers and manage every step from purchasing and processing to stand-up pouch packaging and export.

In addition to processing the harvests, LIMBUA fills organic macadamia nuts and dried mangoes into retail-ready stand-up pouches, also known as doypacks. Our packaging solutions are available to brand owners and for private label macadamia nuts and private label dried mangoes. Filling and packaging take place at our own production facilities in Kenya.

For our B2B customers, this means one point of contact for the entire supply chain, fewer external interfaces and transparent processes from purchasing the raw materials through to export.

The products are packed ready for retail in Kenya. This eliminates the need to export them in bulk and have them packed later by an external packaging service provider.

Stand-up pouches combine product protection with an attractive presentation.

    Packaging materials with suitable barrier properties reduce exposure to oxygen and moisture. This helps preserve the flavour, texture and quality of macadamia nuts and dried mangoes.

    An optional zip closure allows consumers to reseal the pouch easily after opening.

Value creation in Kenya using renewable energy

By adding stand-up pouch packaging at our own production facilities in Kenya, LIMBUA extends local processing at origin by another important step. This allows a larger share of the value creation to remain in the growing region and creates additional skilled activities locally.

We use electricity from our own combined heat and power plant for processing and stand-up pouch filling. Macadamia shells from our production serve as an energy source. This allows production residues to be used for energy generation and helps reduce the use of fossil energy sources.
